Flash Labradorite Dragon & Castle Carving | 3.25" Detailed Natural Stone Sculpture

This is one of those pieces you have to turn slowly in the light.

Carved from Labradorite, this substantial little sculpture features an incredibly detailed dragon incorporated into an architectural, castle-like scene.

The dark charcoal-gray stone initially gives the carving a dramatic, almost ancient appearance—but as the light moves across it, flashes of electric blue, teal, green, gold and purple begin appearing throughout the dragon, wings, base and surrounding carved details.

The craftsmanship is what really makes this piece special. The carving includes textured wings, scales, architectural patterns, stonework and deeply carved dimensional areas that create an entire miniature scene rather than a simple dragon figurine.

Different angles reveal completely different areas of Labradorite flash.

Natural Stone Note

Labradorite's flash changes dramatically depending upon the lighting and viewing angle. Areas that appear dark gray or nearly black from one direction may reveal blue, green, gold, purple or multicolor flash when turned toward the light.

Natural stone may also contain inclusions, veins, pits, surface variations and other naturally occurring characteristics.

IG Crystal Archive Thoughts

Do not judge this one from a single photograph.

At first glance it's this dark, moody little dragon scene—and then the light hits it.

Blue.

Teal.

Purple.

Gold.

The closer I photographed it, the more color I found hiding throughout the carving.

I also love that this isn't just a dragon sitting on a plain base. There is so much going on in the carving that it feels like a tiny fantasy scene carved into Labradorite.
