This Jasper dragon skull has incredible personality.

Measuring approximately 4.25 inches long, the carving features a dramatic elongated dragon skull with deep-set eye sockets, defined brow ridges, individually sculpted teeth, horns and multiple raised spikes running along the back of the head.

What makes this piece especially interesting is the natural Jasper itself.

The stone moves through creamy ivory, taupe and soft gray with areas of dusty rose, burgundy, rust and brown. Natural veins, small pockets and contrasting mineral formations appear throughout the carving and become part of the dragon's features.

The polished finish highlights both the carving and the natural pattern of the stone without hiding its individual mineral characteristics.

This dragon has attitude.

I love that the Jasper isn't perfectly uniform. The cream and taupe keep the overall piece neutral, and then you get unexpected little areas of burgundy, dusty pink, rust and gray running directly through the face.

But look closely at the carving itself—the deep eye sockets, teeth, horns and all those ridges along the back are beautifully done.

It's creepy, interesting and beautiful all at the same time.
